From the Trapeze to the Terminal
Caelan Huntress has had an unconventional career arc. He started as a circus acrobat and street performer, hitchhiked across the United States, studied the Great Books at St. John's College in Santa Fe (one of the few purely classical liberal arts colleges in the world), and spent a decade as a digital nomad running a marketing agency called Stellar Platforms.
He's also the author of Marketing Yourself (2022), a practical guide to personal brand and business development — built on the philosophy that trust is earned through consistency, not cleverness.
Today he's based in Christchurch, New Zealand, and his work is entirely focused on AI. Not the theoretical kind — the kind that actually helps people do their jobs better, protect their time, and build leverage in their work.
Why OpenClaws NZ
Caelan first encountered OpenClaw when it was still called Moltbot. He recognised immediately what it could do — and equally, how badly most people would set it up. After going through the installation process himself (including all the security hardening, channel setup, memory configuration, and skill tuning), he realised the gap in the market wasn't the software. It was the setup.
OpenClaws NZ exists to close that gap. Every installation is done personally — not delegated to a junior tech, not handled through a form. You get Caelan's direct attention, his AI coaching expertise, and a system that's been secured, configured, and taught to understand your specific context.
What He Does
- OpenClaw installations for individuals and businesses across New Zealand
- AI training workshops for teams through GenAI Training NZ
- Keynote speaking on AI adoption, productivity, and the "operator vs user" distinction
- Community building through the AI Coaching Academy — weekly content, coaching, and a growing network of AI operators
His Philosophy
Caelan's core belief: AI is an operator problem, not a technology problem. Most people who feel left behind by AI aren't less intelligent — they just haven't been taught how to operate the tools effectively. Give someone a well-configured AI assistant and 20 hours of proper instruction, and the gap closes fast.
He's deliberately avoided the "AI will take your job" doom framing that gets clicks. His focus is practical: what can you do today that makes you meaningfully more effective? That's the question every installation and every coaching session is built around.
